CHITRAL: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali on Monday performed the groundbreaking of the main campus of the University of Chitral here.

Speaking at the ceremony on the occasion, he asked the universities to overhaul their education system and focus on research to enable the students to be job providers instead of job seekers. He said the existing education system made the postgraduates to run from pillar to post for even a Class-IV job in the government departments.

Mr Ali said university education should be designed in such a way that a fresh degree holder might be able to employ three to four persons instead of seeking job.

He said it was a matter of great concern for him when a young man with M.Phil degree approached him to help get the job of a peon in a government department.

“High moral values, politeness, tolerance and mutual respect should be integral part of our university education,” he said, adding currently the universities had no instrument for character building of students.
