LAKKI MARWAT: The Bannu Cantonment Board chief executive officer Bilal Pasha allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself inside his official residence on Monday, the police said.

They said they reached the residence of Mr Pasha after receiving information about the incident, and found him lying in a pool of blood. They added the body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu.

The cantonment police station SHO Raza Khan told Dawn that they had launched inquiry into the incident to ascertain whether the official had committed suicide or had been killed by someone. He said the deceased had a bullet wound in his head.

After funeral prayers held on the premises of the cantonment board, the body was dispatched to his home district of Khanewal in Punjab for burial.
