SUKKUR, Feb 18: Police arrested 20 persons, including eight women, and registered cases against 17 Behan tribesmen on Saturday for allegedly killing three Mirbahar tribesmen.

The arrests were made during police raids under the Rohri TPO. According to the police, the arrests were made on the basis of an FIR lodged by Hussain Dino Mirbahar, son of deceased Gul Mohammad Mirbahar.

He nominated 17 persons, including, Gul Hassan Shah, Saeed Behan, Shabbir Ahmed, Khuda Bux, Sheral and Achar. The Mirbahar tribe on Saturday staged a sit-in at the Choondko bus stop near Salehpat by putting the dead bodies on the road and demanded arrest of the killers.

Three persons of the Mirbahar community had been killed when eight persons of the Behan tribe opened fire on them at the Awami hotel near Salehpat bus stop on Friday. The deceased were Rahim Dino, son of Eiden, Gul Mohammad, son of Yar Mohammad, and Jansar Ali, son of Dhani Bux.

The attackers had fled from the scene after the killing. Sukkur DPO Aftab Halepoto said the tribes were at war since many years over a piece of land.
