TOBA TEK SINGH: A man died after the roof of his room caved in late Monday night in Faisalabad’s Chiragh Town locality on Kokianwala Road.

According to Rescue 1122, Nazir Ahmad had burned pieces of old clothes to keep his room warm, but the fire spread, causing the roof to fall on him.

Rescuers removed the debris, rescuing him, but he had already passed away.

Meanwhile, a woman died after being hit by a van in Jhang on Tuesday near Bodla Chowk on Bhakkar Road.

Rescue 1122 officials identified the deceased as Saboo Bibi (50), who was crossing the road.

STRIKE: The strike of faculty and staff continued for the consecutive ninth day on Tuesday at the University of Jhang.

Prof Dr Adil Sultan, Prof Dr Aftab Ahmad, Prof Dr Samina Sipra, Prof Dr Anan Saleem, Prof Dr Fakhira Jamil, and Prof Dr Saima Yasmin told a press conference that their strike and boycott of examinations would continue until their salaries are paid.

They suggested that, temporarily, the powers of cash withdrawal for their salaries be given to the acting vice-chancellor (VC) until the appointment of a permanent VC.

Clerical staff representative Syed Arif Hussain was also present.
