NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Uthmanzai tribal jirga on Tuesday boycotted the ongoing polio campaign across the district till improvement in the law and order situation, equitable distribution of natural resources and release of missing persons.

The jirga also declared that the residents allowing vaccination of their children would be fined Rs500,000.

Apart from boycotting the polio campaign, a 30-member core committee of Uthmanzai jirga also decided to close Miramshah-Bannu Road for vehicular traffic, jirga spokesman Mufti Baitullah said.

He said that the core committee had presented a draft of their demands to the authorities, which included maintaining law and order, equitable distribution of natural resources, and release of missing persons.

It merits a mention here that Uthmanzai Qaumi Lashkar has been staging protests and sit-ins for the last four months against growing lawlessness in North Waziristan tribal district.
