QUETTA: Security forces killed two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district of Balochistan, the military said in a statement issued on Tuesday night.

The Inter-Services Public Relations said the operation was conducted in the Nagao Mountains area of Kalat on information about the presence of terrorists there.

During the operation, an intense exchange of fire took place between troops and terrorists, resulting in the killing of two terrorists, the statement said, adding that a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives had also been recovered.

“The killed terrorists remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces and target killing of innocent civilians,” the ISPR said.

“Sanitisation is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area. Security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts of sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan,” it said.

On Sunday, eight terrorists were killed by security forces, it added.
