Barbie star Margot Robbie addresses sequel

Barbie star and producer Margot Robbie addressed the prospect of a sequel to the highly successful Barbie movie, which earned $1.4 billion globally. Speaking to AP Entertainment, Robbie hinted at the unpredictability of a follow-up, emphasising that their primary goal was creating a singular, impactful film rather than planning for a franchise. Despite not ruling out the idea, Robbie underscored the importance of Barbie’s box office success for original films, especially those featuring female leads, challenging industry misconceptions.

Robbie praised director Greta Gerwig for “changing the game” and expressed optimism that Barbie’s triumph would pave the way for more big-budget original ideas in the future.
