KOHAT: A man was killed and his son received injuries when their rivals attacked them in Chamba Gul area of Hangu district the other day.

City police station SHO Fayyaz Khan told Dawn that the deceased identified as Nasreen Gul belonged to Lachi tehsil of Kohat. He was residing in Hangu due to his old enmity with Hayat Khan.

He said that Hayat with his sons had travelled to Hangu from Lachi to take revenge for their murdered family member.

Wali Mohammad, the injured son of the deceased, told police in hospital that he along with his father was going on a motorcycle to attend a court hearing when Hayat, Amjidullah, Zahireen and Sabireen opened firing on them.

He said that his father died on the spot while he was seriously injured in the attack.

OPERATION: A task force formed on the directives of Kohat Commissioner Mohammad Abid Khan has launched an operation to remove flea market from the back side of Jail Plaza.

The space will be allocated to handcart owners. The wheels of their handcarts will be removed so that they cannot move back to the city. The handcarts cause problems to pedestrians and motorists in the bazaars.

The additional deputy commissioner, Sheharyar Qamar, told Dawn that venders would be allotted numbers for their verification. He said that operation against illegal bus stands, temporary shops on footpaths and handcarts was on the anvil.
