Noor overcomes Farhan to reach third round

ISLAMABAD: The promising Noor Zaman overcame experienced Farhan Mehboob in a thriller to reach the third round of the CAS-Serena Hotels International Squash Championship here at Mushaf Squash Complex on Friday.

Noor came on top of a see-saw contest that lasted 48 minutes by winning 4-11, 11-2, 11-9, 10-12, 11-9.

Noor’s compatriots Nasir Iqbal and Ammad Fareed also advanced, the former taming Egypt’s Seif El-Shenawy and the latter outclassing Malaysian Wee Ming Hock.

Another local hope Mohammad Asim also advanced, crushing Egyptian Yassin Shohdy, but youngster Abdullah Nawaz fell to Khaled Labib after a 66-minute battle, the Egyptian winning 11-8, 8-11, 7-11, 11-9 , 11-9.
