LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday granted post-arrest bail to PTI social media activist Sanam Javed in a case of attacking police teams outside Zaman Park residence of former prime minister Imran Khan.

Judge Abher Gul Khan allowed the bail petition of the activist subject to furnishing surety bonds of Rs200,000.

A counsel for the suspect argued that the police implicated his client in a fabricated case only to frustrate her release in other May 9 cases despite the grant of bail.

Racecourse police arrested the activist in the case after she was supposed to be released following her bail in four previous cases relating to the May 9 riots including attack on the corps commander’s house and the party office of the PML-N in Model Town.

CHEEMA: An accountability court on Saturday reserved verdict on an acquittal application of Ahad Khan Cheema, the special assistant to caretaker prime minister, in a reference of alleged illegal assets.

Judge Ali Zulqernain Awan will announce the verdict on Dec 8.

In a supplementary report, the NAB has already given a clean chit to Cheema. It declared that Cheema did not acquire any assets beyond his known sources of income.

The NAB said the properties owned by the alleged benamidars/relatives of Cheema did not belong to him as they (benamidars) acquired the assets with their own independent and legitimate sources.

The NAB report asserted that the properties and the bank accounts owned by the relatives of the accused could not be linked to him.

It said the bureau incorporated the duly verified figures, the updated cash flow position of Cheema and found that he did not acquire any asset beyond his known sources of income or which he could not reasonably justify.

The bureau asked the court to decide the acquittal application in accordance with law.

Mr Cheema was the Lahore Development Authority director general during the previous government of the PML-N in Punjab, and the NAB had filed several references against him.

In his acquittal application, Mr Cheema`s counsel argued that the NAB had made the reference of illegal assets only to victimise his client.

He said the prosecution failed to present any cogent evidence against the petitioner during the trial.

**IDENTIFICATION PARADE:**An anti-terrorism court on Saturday sent six suspects to jail for their identification parade in a case of firing at a bus of a private college injuring two girls.

Sundar police presented the suspects before the court and sought a permission to shift them to jail for identification parade.

The investigating officer stated that six suspects had been arrested while prime suspect Umar was still at large. He said two female students were injured due to the firing by the suspects. He said one of the victims was in a critical situation.

Judge Abher Gul Khan allowed the police to keep the suspects in jail for 14 days to conduct their identification parade. The suspects include Ayan, Muhammad Abdullah, Mahboob Ali, Muhammad Sajawal, Eithesham and Ibrar.
