BAJAUR: Jamaat-i-Islami on Saturday announced its candidates for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in Bajaur tribal district.

According to a statement, the names of the candidates for the four provincial assembly seats in the district have been approved by both central and provincial parliamentary boards of JI.

JI has nominated Malik Mohammad Ayaz Khan for PK-19, Maulana Waheed Gul for PK-20, Haji Sardar Khan for PK-21 and former MPA Haji Sirajud Din Khan for PK-22 as its candidates for the upcoming elections.

The statement didn’t mention the name of the party’s candidate for the lone National Assembly seat in the district. However, sources said that JI district chief Sahibzada Haroon Rasheed was likely to be nominated for the NA seat.

JI would launch its election campaign by holding a public meeting next week.

WALK: A walk was held here the other day to create awareness among people about HIV/Aids.

According to a statement, prior to holding the walk a function was also arranged at district headquarters hospital in Khar. Doctors, nurses, paramedics and officials of health department attended the function and participated in the walk.

“A unit for treatment of Aids patients has been established in district headquarters hospital where every infected person is being treated in complete privacy,” Dr Wazir Khan Safi, the medical superintendent of the hospital, told the function.

He said that preventive measures should be adopted to stay safe from the disease. He also infected people to visit the district headquarters hospital for treatment. He said that all facilities required for the treatment of Aids were available at the specific unit of the hospital.
