DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police seized non-custom paid (NCP) items worth over Rs14 million here on Sunday.

An official said a team of Darazinda police station recovered the NCP items during checking of vehicles. He said the police recovered 439 sacks of chalia (betel nut), 43 sacks of Chinese salt and 24 bundles of tyres.

The seized items were later handed over to the customs authorities for further legal action against the smugglers.

Meanwhile, the police on Sunday arrested nine outlaws and recovered drugs, weapons and ammunition from them.

An official said the cantonment police arrested Mohammad Ayub and recovered 370 grams ice drug from him.

In another action, Yarik police arrested four outlaws, including Qismat Khan with 390 grams hashish, Shaukat Ali with 130 gram ice drug, Azharuddin with 350 grams ice drug and 300 gram hashish and Noor Akbar with an illegal pistol and five cartridges.

Similarly, Shaheed Nawab Khan police arrested Kaleemullah and recovered 149 grams of ice drug from him.

The same police raided a house of an absconder, Karmanullah for his arrest. However, the accused was not present. The police recovered a rifle and 50 cartridges form there.
