BAJAUR: The Jamaat-i-Islami on Tuesday announced that its Bajaur chief, Sahibzada Haroon Rasheed, would be its candidate for the tribal district’s only National Assembly seat in the Feb 8 general elections.

The announcement was made after a meeting of the JI’s provincial parliamentary board, which examined the suggestions of the party’s local leadership for the NA-8 election nomination, according to a statement issued here.

The nomination of Mr Rasheed, also a former lawmaker, comes three days after the Jamaat announced its candidates for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seats in Bajaur district.

Malik Mohammad Ayaz Khan is the party’s election nominee for PK-19 constituency, Maulana Waheed Gul for PK-20, Haji Sardar Khan for PK-21 and former MPA Haji Sirajuddin Khan for PK-22.
