MANSEHRA: Two people were killed and hundreds of chickens perished when a heavy landslide struck a pickup truck on the Karakoram Highway in Lootar area of Upper Kohistan district on Monday night.

“Our team and locals retrieved bodies of the driver and his assistant from the vehicle after removing boulders, and shifted them to District Headquarters Hospital, Dasu,” Abdul Rehman, an official of Rescue 1122, told reporters on Tuesday.

“The vehicle was on way to Skardu from Mansehra to supply chicken to traders. Hundreds of birds were also perished in the incident,” Mr Rehman said.

The deceased were identified as Ali Mohammad, 21, and driver Mohammad Sadiq, 53, both residents of Skardu.
