ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Tuesday said that reforms in the health sector were imperative to improve facilities in the country and meet international requirements.

Presiding over a meeting of the task force on reforms in medical education and patients care, the prime minister called for improving the standards of medical education in accordance with contemporary requirements.

The participants of the meeting were briefed on the strategy to uplift the health sector on a par with international standards.

The meeting was also briefed on the steps taken for improving the health sector in coordination with the health ministry, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, Higher Education Commission and medical universities.

The meeting was told that a three-pronged strategy had been formulated for health sector reforms to enforce rules and regulations of international standards.

The participants were also apprised of the reforms strategy for the graduate and postgraduate levels in the health sector.

The prime minister appreciated the performance of the task force working under Special Assistant Dr Amir Bilal for health sector reforms.

Women cricket team

Meanwhile, the prime minister congratulated the Pakistan women’s cricket team for winning the T20 series in New Zealand.

In a statement, the prime minister said that after this victory, Pakistan women’s cricket team became the first Asian women’s cricket team to win the T20 series in New Zealand.
