CHINIOT: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company on Wednesday suspended the Chenabnagar sub divisional officer over gross misconduct and misbehaviour with the Lalian division executive engineer and attached him with the Fesco headquarters with immediate effect for withdrawal of subsistence allowance under the rules.

Reports said EXEN Tufail Randhawa had sought explanation from SDO Abdul Wahab for making electricity detection bills of consumers less than the estimated theft amounts. On Tuesday, Wahab came to the EXEN office, hurled abuses at him and tore off his shirt. He also beat up the EXEN while a retired Fesco official Muhammad Afzal, who was present on the occasion, tried to rescue Randhawa and he was thrashed as well. The SDO threatened him with dire consequences if the explanation notice was not withdrawn. On the complaint of Randhawa, the company high-ups suspended the SDO from service and ordered an inquiry.

The EXEN has also submitted an application for registration of an FIR against Abdul Wahab for beating and threatening him and trying to stop him from official duty at his workplace.

Lalian Police have started investigations into the incident.

ARRESTED: City police have arrested a two-member gang of dacoits who would snatch motorcycles, cattle and commit highway and house robberies in Chiniot and adjoining districts.

Suspects Haider Ali and Javed Iqbal also confessed to their crimes while police recovered cash, cell phones and valuables worth Rs800,000 from their possession.

City Station House Officer Syed Arooj Shah said the suspects were wanted by Chiniot, Faisalabad and Hafizabad police in many criminal cases.

SEALED: As many as 50 brick kilns and six industrial units were sealed for violation of anti-smog protocol.

This was stated by Environment Assistant Director Muhammad Nawaz Sial at a meeting chaired by Chiniot Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asif Raza.

The environment department teams inspected 206 kilns for SOPs compliance and sealed 50 of them for violation. As many as 35 kiln owners were booked and fined a sum of Rs7.2 million.

As many as 51 industrial units were inspected by the environment teams out of which six were sealed. Cases were registered against 22 of them and a fine of Rs900,000 was imposed on them.
