BAHAWALPUR: Two people were killed, and four others suffered serious injuries in the firing between two rival groups near Lodhran late on Wednesday.

According to the police, Mehram Khan and Pathana Khan, residents of village Kawandi, were going on motorcycles when they were ambushed by their rival Sharif group near the railway crossing. Both groups exchanged gunfire, resulting in Mehram’s death, while his brother, suffered injuries.

The alleged attacker from the rival Sharif group, Ali Hassan, who was shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital here, also succumbed to his injuries. Police sources stated that both groups have had enmity for over 10 years, and four men from both sides have been killed. The Lodhran police said that after the postmortem examinations of the bodies, legal action against the members of both rival groups could be initiated following the receipt of their respective complaints.

KILLED: Pakistan Engineering Council assistant director Asim Lang, belonging to Jalalpur Peerwala near Lodhran, along with his wife Rawai Noor was allegedly shot dead in Islamabad by their Afghan neighbours Sharifullah and Ismail on Wednesday.

According to reports, the family members claimed that the Afghan nationals allegedly opened fire after some altercations with the deceased couple. Their bodies were shifted to village Hafizwala near Lodhran, where they were buried.
