HYDERABAD, Feb 20: An ‘Azmat-i-Mustafa rally’ was held here on Monday as protests continued in different parts of Sindh against the publication of blasphemous cartoons in European newspapers

The rally was organized by the Shabab-i-Milli.

Participants of the rally marched from Gaja Mori to the Seri Union Council.

They raised slogans against the detention of Jamaat-i-Islami Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad and other leaders.

Sindh Shabab-i-Milli president Khair Mohammad, JI leaders Mujahid Baloch, Abdul Waheed Qureshi and Shaikh Shaukat Ali and Tehrik-i-Islami leader Nizamul Hyderi spoke on the occasion.

They urged people to boycott European goods and called upon Muslim countries to sever diplomatic relations with European countries where the sacrilegious caricatures had been published.

Activists of the women’s wing of the Pakistan Muslim League, led by Manzar Rawal, Bano Soomro and Shamim Gopang, also staged a protest rally outside the Hyderabad Press Club.

They called upon the government to sever all relations with Denmark and ban imports from countries which had published the blasphemous cartoons.

TANDO MOHAMMAD KHAN: The People’s Party Parliamentarians staged a rally in Tando Mohammad Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh PPP finance secretary Abdul Khaliq Soomro said the government had converted peaceful demonstrations into violent protests which had further aggravated the situation.

He demanded that the government should sever diplomatic and trade relations with Denmark.

The youth group of the Ahl-i-Sunnat also staged a protest rally and burnt US and Danish flags.

The District Bar Association held a protest meeting at its office.

It demanded that the government should record its protest with the UN.
