ISLAMABAD: Polyclinic’s ear, nose, and throat (ENT) team and ophthalmologists held a medical camp in Islamabad Model School (IMS) F-6/3 on Thursday, during which over 200 students were examined.

Polyclinic Executive Director (ED) Prof Dr Shahzad Munir sent the team on the directions of the health ministry. As per the spokesperson of the hospital Dr Abdul Jabbar Bhutto, the ENT specialists and ophthalmologists, along with paramedic staff, checked more than 200 students (boys and girls) from nursery to 5th grade.

“Students were checked for their eyesight, colour blindness, and near and far vision status through the Medical Snellen Chart. Besides, the ENT doctors checked the ear, nose, and throat of children and assessed their hearing and speech status,” Dr Bhutto said.

He further mentioned that the team measured the height and weight of students and advised on the nutritional supplements that were provided by school management. “The school is already providing a healthy diet to every student with meals, snacks, and lunches free of charge on a daily basis,” he added.

Dr Bhutto conveyed, “The overall well-being of students was satisfactory with reference to height and weight according to their ages. Few students seemed to be malnourished as well, according to their height and weight.”

He added that the health system of schools should be strengthened by providing preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services to students and teachers.
