SWABI: A teacher of a seminary was killed allegedly by two of his students inside the madrassah in the early hours of Monday, the police said.

They said the incident occurred in Madressah Darul Uloom Zubaria.

According to an FIR registered with the Zaida police station, Saifullah Hadi, a brother of the deceased, Nooral Hadi, said Maulana Abdul Basit, also a teacher in the seminary, called him on phone and told him that two students – Imdadullah Darashkhel from Swat and Mahaz Ahmad from Katlang village of Mardan – had killed his brother.

Saifullah said the accused had slaughtered his brother.

The SHO Zaida police station told Dawn that a police party reached the spot after getting the information about the murder. He added the incident took place at 3.30am.

He said the accused first stabbed him with knives and then slaughtered him. “We shifted the body to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital, Shahmansoor, for autopsy,” he said.

He said the real cause of the murder would be known on receipt of the autopsy report. However, he added the two students had been arrested and were being investigated.

The slain teacher belonged to Nisatta village of Charsadda district. He had been teaching at the seminary for the last nine months, where students from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the merged districts, were getting religious education.
