LAHORE: Two matches were played on the first day of the Hamadan Lahore Open Polo Champ­ionship here at the Lahore Polo Club on Tuesday.

A magnificent six-goal show from Lao Abelenda helped Remounts edged out PAF 8-7. Omer Asjad Malhi scored a brace for the winners.

For PAF, Raja Jalal Arsalan scored three goals while Hamza Iqbal and Meesam registered two each.

In the second match, a six-goal blast by Juan Manuel steered Rijas Polo to an 8-7 win over DS Polo/Sheikhoo Steel in a fierce contest.

Apart from Manuel, Ahmed Bilal Riaz and Ahmed Zubair Butt scored one each for the victors.

Retired Lt Col Omer Minhas scored three goals while Niko Roberts and Osman Aziz Anwar made a brace each for DS Polo/Sheikhoo Steel.
