ABBOTTABAD: A woman and her four children died of suffocation caused of gas leak in Chona Kari area here on Monday night, while her husband was shifted to Ayub Medical Complex in critical condition.

Nawan city police station officials said the victims included 26-year-old Shamim Bibi, her two daughters and two sons. The family head was identified as Banaras.

They said the six family members were sleeping while keeping a gas heater alighted. However, due to gas outage, the supply was disconnected. After the supply resumed, the room was filled with gas, suffocating the woman and her four children.

The incident came to be known on Tuesday evening when neighbours noticed there was no movement in the house.

After breaking open the door, they found four children and their mother dead, while the man was unconscious.

Later, Rescue 1122 shifted the bodies and the unconscious man to hospital.
