LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy commissioner Rahmat Ali Wazir has banned arms display, pillion riding and use of tinted glass in vehicles for one month in Lakki Marwat district.

An official said on Friday the restriction had been imposed on the request of the police authorities. He said plying of unregistered motorcycles and vehicles and those without number plates had also been banned. He said ban on pillion-riding would be effective from 7pm to5am.

The official said political gatherings and rallies won’t be allowed with a no-objection certificate.

The official said restrictions had been imposed owing to prevailing law and order situation.

He said the violators would be punished under Section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code.

OFFICIALS WARNED: Several revenue offices were found locked in Domel town of Bannu district during a surprise visit by additional divisional commissioner Baidullah Shah on Friday.

Mr Shah paid visits to patwaris’ offices on the directives of divisional commissioner Parweiz Sabatkhel, who had received complaints about poor service delivery at these offices.

Mr Shah warned that truant officials would face stern action. He directed the revenue officials to ensure timely completion of land mutations and collection and deposit of taxes.

Also in the day, divisional commissioner Parweiz Sabatkhel asked Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited authorities to ensure completion of a gas pipeline project within stipulated time.

Chairing a meeting in Bannu, he said the area people had the genuine right to take advantage of the natural resource discovered on their soil.

He directed the authorities to formulate a future strategy in consultation with law enforcement agencies so the project could be completed without any hurdle.

In a separate development, the Lakki administration on Friday filled a long and deep crater along the Indus Highway to avert any accident.

After noticing the ditch, residents had lodged a complaint with deputy commissioner Rahmat Ali Wazir, who had directed the National Highway Authority to fill the gaping hole.

Later, additional assistant commissioner Gohar Ali Khan and NHA deputy director Kiramatullah got filled the ditch near the Kurrum Bridge with sand and earth.

Mr Ali said rainwater had created the large cavity.
