PESHAWAR: A day after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commissioner Shamshad Khan administered oath to 36 district returning officers (DROs), Peshawar’s DRO Afaaq Wazir administered oath to returning officers in the provincial capital here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, in Bajaur district five returning officers (ROs) for the four local seats of provincial assembly and one of National Assembly for the February 8 general elections also took oath on Wednesday.

Bajaur deputy commissioner Mohammad Anwarul Haq, who is also the DRO, administered the oath to ROs during a meeting at his office, according to a statement.

Following the oath, Mr Haq asked the five returning officers to perform their duties with commitment and honesty to conduct the general elections in the district in free, fair and transparent manner.

Meanwhile, several candidates on Wednesday obtained their nomination papers for the four provincial and one National Assembly seat in Bajaur from respective returning officers.

According to sources, 25 candidates received papers on the first day of issuance of nomination papers.
