ISLAMABAD: In a message conveyed to the party through his legal counsel, who met him on Thursday, PTI founding chairman Imran Khan said that political instability puts the successful implementation of the IMF programme at risk.
Issued late on Thursday night by the PTI’s media wing, the message attributed to the former premier said the party’s support for IMF programme was conditional on conducting free, fair, and inclusive elections. If the situation remained unchanged, it would minimise the chances of the programme’s successful implementation.
Mr Khan noted that he was very concerned by the current situation of his homeland, as Pakistan was being pushed towards devastation. He also stressed that the establishment and the judiciary were not with him or the PTI. He emphasised that the forthcoming general elections were an opportunity to pull the country out of prevailing political and economic quagmire.
