PML-N names CWC members

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday approved the list of members of the party’s central working committee (CWC) after consultations with the party’s chairman, Raja Zafarul Haq, and president Shahbaz Sharif.

This was announced by PML-N Secretary-General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra while speaking at a news conference here on Wednesday.

The party’s senior vice-president, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Information Secretary Siddiqul Farooque and president of the party’s Islamabad chapter Dr Tariq Chaudhry were also present on the occasion.

Mr Jhagra said PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif was expected to convene a meeting of the meeting of the CWC in London in the last fortnight of March, this year. He said Mr Sharif had also opened an office of the party in London.

Replying to a question, he said Mr Sharif would be among his people in Pakistan in the year 2006. He also said a meeting between Mr Sharif and PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto was also expected t be held in London soon.

According to Mr Jhagra, the new 25 members of the PML-N CWC are Mian Nawaz Sharif, Ghulam Dastagir Khan, M. Hamza, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Raja Mohammad Afzal, Mian Mohammad Zaman, Chaudhry Sher Ali, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, Imdad Ali Chandio, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Chaudhry Asadur Rehman, Inamullah Khan Niazi, Maimoona Hashmi, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Mahmood Ahmed Khan, Zain Ansari, Rana Noorul Hassan, Sadia Abbasi, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Khudai Noor, Nasir Khan, Sartaj Aziz and Khawaja Mohammad Asif.

The PML-N secretary general said Sardar Rahim and Saidal Khan Nasir had been nominated as additional secretary information and joint secretary of the party, respectively.

Besides these, Mr Jhagra said central office-bearers of the party, provincial presidents and general secretaries and presidents of the eight central wings of the party were ex- officio members of the CWC.

Mr Jhagra said Mr Sharif had also nominated presidents of party’s specialized central wings. Raja Nadir Pervez has been made president of the youth wing, Khawaja Mahmood Ahmed (lawyers wing), Begum Ishrat Ashraf (women wing), Rana Mohammad Arshad (MSF), Mian Abdul Mannan (traders wing), Chaudhry Sultan Ali (kisan wing), Ishtiaq Aasi (League of Trade Union Federation) and Krishan Bheel (minorities).
