LAHORE/CHINIOT: An alleged Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist hiding since 2011 with a head money of Rs2.5 million and his accomplice were killed during an operation in a Chiniot village late Friday night, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed on Saturday.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the TTP terrorist Ghazanfar Nadeem was involved in more than 50 murders and an attack on an intelligence agency office in Faisalabad.
During the action, the spokesperson said, militant and his accomplice resisted, leading to an exchange of fire which led to the killing of the two militants.
Modern weapons and explosives were recovered from their hideout.
Their bodies were shifted to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy.
According to the CTD, the militant was involved in 11 major terrorist operations, including an attack on ISI offices in Faisalabad, a suicide attack in Dera Ismail Khan and a sectarian killing.
The CTD said that the elimination of the figure was expected to result in a noticeable decrease in terrorist activities. The CTD has been undertaking operations province-wide in response to terror threats, making arrests and neutralising criminal elements through IBOs in recent months.
