TOBA TEK SINGH: Three fleeing robbery suspects, one of them injured, were dramatically arrested by Faisalabad’s Millat Town police on Monday, after they claimed to be themselves victims of a robbery.

According to a police official, three suspects had allegedly shot at and injured a shopkeeper for offering resistance during a robbery bid two days ago in Bhaiwala locality in Millat Town police station limits.

During the incident, one of the robbers was also injured in retaliatory firing by the injured shopkeeper.

It later transpired that the two fleeing accomplices of the injured robber picked him from the spot and took him to Sargodha, where they stayed in the house of his (injured suspect’s) uncle.

However, when the injured robber’s uncle came to know that his nephew was injured while committing a robbery, he told them to leave his house.

The two suspects then shifted their injured accomplice to their hometown of Dijkot.

As the injured man urgently needed medical treatment for his bullet wounds, which was not possible without reporting the matter to police, the suspects called at police helpline 15, fabricating a story that some armed men had injured him during a robbery bid.

Acting on the 15 call, a police team shifted the injured suspect to Faisalabad DHQ hospital for his treatment and started investigation.

However, during the investigation, the police got suspicious and took the injured suspect in custody. The suspect, when grilled, revealed the facts to police investigators.

The police then also arrested the two other suspects.

They were shifted to the DHQ hospital for treatment.
