KOHAT: Former MPA from PK-91 and an old guard of Jamaat-i-Islami Dr Iqbal Fana parted ways with his party and formally announced joining Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl here on Monday.

He made the announcement after a jirga headed by JUI-F provincial leader and NA-35 candidate Seth Gohar Saifullah Khan had met him at his hujra last week.

The new development has strengthened the positions of both Dr Fana and Seth Gohar in PK-91 and NA-35.

On the other hand, district Shura of Jamaat-i-Islami reacted to the development and issued a notification with signatures of the district emir Pir Faheem, expelling Dr Fana from the party.

Local body members and his supporters gathered at the hujra of Dr Fana on Monday and declared that he would be their unanimous candidate from PK-91.
