ISLAMABAD: Four people were killed and five injured in a head on collision between a car and a motorcycle on Islamabad Expressway on Monday, police said.

Khanna police SHO Zahid Shan told Dawn that the road accident took place at Dhok Kala Khan when a group of at least nine persons riding on a car and a motorcycle were returning from G-7/2 to Zia Masjid’s area after attending a ceremony in connection with Christmas.

What caused the collision was not clear , he said, adding that four people, including a man and his son were killed and five others injured.

Police and the rescue teams reached the spot and found two persons dead and seven injured, the SHO said, adding later on two more died.

The injured were shifted to the hospital where their condition was critical, he said, adding that the police have collected some details of the accident from one of the injured, but it was not clear how the vehicles collided.

The SHO said that all the injured and the deceased were residents of Zia Masjid area. However, it was yet to be established whether they were family, relatives or friends.
