RAWALPINDI: Veteran actor Nisar Qadri passed away on Monday at the age of 82 years.

His funeral prayers were offered at the Eidgah Ground in Chaklala, which were attended by friends and family.

The deceased has left behind a wife and three children.

Nisar Qadri started his illustrious career with Radio Pakistan in 1966 and later switched to television where he worked for decades.

In 2016, Qadri was awarded the President’s Pride of Performance award for brilliant acting prowess. He had played many memorable characters on Pakistan Television (PTV), including the drama serial Deewarein.

Qadri portrayed diverse characters on TV, films, theatre and radio.

Some of his popular dramas include Khawahishain, Aatish, Pooray Chaand ki Raat, Adhi Dhoop, Iztarab, Angar Wadi, Nijaat, Karavan and Samundar.

He had been inactive on TV for several years due to ill health.

In his condolence message, caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi expressed his grief over the demise of the famous actor.

He offered his condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty to grant them courage to bear the irreparable loss. He also prayed for the departed soul.
