KOHAT: All Kohat Tajir Ittehad (KTI) on Tuesday rejected the recent massive increase in the gas tariff and incorporation of different levies in electricity bills, terming it economic murder of the people already crushed by heavy taxation and inflation.

Speaking at a meeting held here, the traders demanded of the prime minister to withdraw the decisions.

They resented that consumers were being subjected to excessive electricity and gas outages, but even then they were sent exorbitant bills.

The speakers expressed displeasure over the performance of Water Supply and Sanitation Company and the tehsil municipal administration.

They regretted that city roads and streets presented an ugly look due to garbage dumps and residents of the areas on the outskirts of the city were facing acute shortage of water.

The participants also complained that officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority were harassing the business community.

Tajir Ittehad chairman Ameer Khan Afridi chaired the meeting.

Meanwhile, Kohat deputy commissioner Azmatullah Wazir, who is also the district chief executive of Khushal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Programme, has directed the effective implementation of the initiative to achieve the desired results.

Chairing a meeting of the heads of departments and police officials here on Tuesday, he said no lethargy would be tolerated in service delivery to people.

He directed the officials to utilise all resources for mitigating the problems faced by people, and also submit reports, so that shortcomings could be removed.
