KOHAT: Two persons were killed and five seriously injured when a passenger coach going to Parachinar from Kothi Bala area of Hangu came under heavy fire in Bara Abbaskhel area on Tuesday.

Hangu city police station SHO Fayyaz Khan told Dawn that Tauqeer of Parachinar and Adnan of Nowshera succumbed to their injuries while being shifted to hospital.

The injured included Ijaz, 18, Abid Ali, Asad Hussain from Parachinar, Hamza, 18, of Charsadda, and Zeeshan, a resident of Nowshera. They were admitted to hospital.

The Counter-Terrorism Department, Hangu, officials visited the crime scene and launched investigations into the incident.

An FIR of the case was registered at the CTD headquarters in Kohat under 7ATA, and sections 302 and 324 of CrPC.

SHO Fayyaz said an emergency had been declared in the area and several police teams were engaged in operations to arrest the criminals. He said the incident was an act of terrorism.

Recently, terrorists killed seven security guards of an oil and exploration company. The assailants had come from the Waziristan side.
