HYDERABAD: Paki-stan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon became chieftain of his community at a convention of the Sindh Memon Ittehad held at his residence on Friday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharjeel, a former provincial minister, said that Memons were humble but not weak or coward people. He said that since the formation of the Ittehad, no one had dared to coerce Memon community fellows. No one would be able to commit injustice against this community, he added.
He, however, regretted that Memons were deeply divided. He called for unity to ensure further strengthening of the community. He noticed that community fellows from Karachi were also present in this convention.
Sharjeel advised that children of the community should be imparted vocational training, as well, so that they could earn respectable livelihood. He called for more public welfare initiatives by the community, and pointed out that he himself had been running an ambulance service in this area for the last seven years.
