HYDERABAD, Feb 24: Dist-rict Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said the district government is facing a host of problems because of limited resources, adding that there are around 1,100 schools which are to be taken care of by the local government.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Hyderabad Press Club on Friday, he said there were around 1,100 rural and urban health centres and hospitals which were to be controlled administratively by the district government.
He said efforts were being made for betterment of these institutions.
He referred to shelter-less and other schools which were being managed despite difficulties.
About the press club, the nazim said it had proved to be an academy for journalists who were working in different parts of the country.
He said Hyderabad-based media representatives played an important role in highlighting burning issues of Sindh.
He announced Rs100,000 for the golden jubilee celebrations of the press club.
He said he would announce a grant for the club soon as be had now become aware of club’s problems.
Press club president Iqbal Mallah spoke about plans for the golden jubilee celebrations.
He said different programmes would be held on the occasion and politicians would be invited to a seminar on journalism.
