KARACHI: Tayyab Tahir scored a century while Nisar Ahmed registered a five-wicket haul for Ghani Glass and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) respectively, meanwhile Arif Yaqoob impressed for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) as the fourth round of the President’s Trophy started here across three venues on Wednesday.

At the UBL Sports Complex, Tayyab’s 103 off 170 balls (14 fours and a six) was a crucial contribution in Ghani Glass’ first-innings total of 221-9 against Higher Education Commission (HEC), for whom Aqib Liaquat (3-75) and Wahaj Riaz (4-39) shined with the ball.

HEC, in response, went down to 140-6 as Ghani Glass pacer Shoaib Akhtar took three early wickets to leave his team in a fairly strong position by stumps.

At the State Bank Stadium, Wapda were dismissed for 140 in their first innings, thanks to Nisar’s five-star show. But SBP weren’t very good with the bat too, as they were 77-4 at the end of the day’s play after Akif Javed had taken three wickets for Wapda.

At the National Bank Stadium, leg-spinner Arif (4-83) SNGPL restrict KRL to a first-innings total of 281-9. Sarmad Bhatti’s 53 off 86 was the best batting performance coming from the latter.
