KARACHI: Four persons, including two women, suffered burns when a huge fire erupted in their huts in Malir in the small hours of Friday morning, police and rescue officials said.

A Fire Brigade official said the blaze started in the huts located off National Highway behind Anwar Baloch Hotel. He said they had received information about it at around 12:19am and around six fire tenders were dispatched.

The firefighters controlled the blaze after hectic efforts lasting for several hours. However, cooling work continued till 3:15am.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said four persons — Sridevi, 30, and her husband Sikander Azam, 35, Resham Lal Das, 45, and Raja Narain, 25, — were injured.

This was the second such incident as around 100 huts were destroyed when a huge fire erupted under Teen Hatti Bridge on Thursday evening.
