KARACHI: Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto yesterday [Jan 14] debunked rumours that the Government would demonetise notes and currency. The Prime Minister told an Ulema delegation which called on him … that such rumours were mischievous and without foundation. A member of the delegation drew the Prime Minister’s attention to such rumours. As many as six different delegations representing the Ismailia, the Bohra, the Memon and the minority communities, the Islamic students organisation and the Ulema separately called on the Prime Minister. …

The delegation of the Ismailia community explained to the Prime Minister its welfare projects and their progress. Prime Minister Bhutto appreciated their services and expressed the hope that they would further accelerate the pace of their efforts for the welfare of the people. — News agencies

[Meanwhile,] Mr Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, Federal Minister for Education, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, yesterday disclosed that the new film policy will be announced within a fortnight. In an interview in Karachi Mr Pirzada said he had received the reports prepared by various committees appointed at the first ever film convention held in Lahore a few weeks back.
