LAKKI MARWAT: Two key political families of Bannu have joined Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl on Monday.

The families’ elders including Abdul Hafez Quraishi and Malik Pirzada Khan made announcements to this effect at a public meeting also attended by former chief minister Akram Durrani’s son Zohaib Akram Khan Durrani.

Area elders including Jibran Durrani, Mohammad Alam Khan, Rafiullah, Mohammad Zaman Haidar Wazir, Israr Bangash and Mir Qasim Khan were also present.

Mr Durrani welcomed the new entrants and said that their decision would give an edge to JUI-F aspirants on rival candidates.

“The elders and youths of Quraishi and Malik families always raised their voices for the resolution of people’s problems,” he maintained. He said his party would resolve electricity, gas and drinking water related problems if voted to power.

The JUI-F leader said that the services and achievements of his party and its leadership for uplifting the district and provision of basic amenities of life to local residents had been acknowledged at all levels.

He called upon people to reject so-called contractors who had jumped into the election arena to protect their business interests.
