LAHORE: A Lahore High Court full bench on Tuesday dismissed a petition challenging the acceptance of nomination papers of PTI leader Zulfiqar Abbas Bokhari alias Zulfi Bokhari from NA-50, Attock.

Tanvir Ahmad filed the petition, alleging the respondent was a defaulter of agriculture income tax.

However, after hearing the arguments the court rejected the plea.

Meanwhile, LHC full bench reserved its verdict on a petition against the acceptance of former federal minister Zartaj Gul’s nomination papers from NA-185, Dera Ghazi Khan.

Petitioner Karim Bakhsh stated that the respondent was a defaulter of Rs95,000 under the head of the PTCL bill.

The bench also issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on a petition challenging the acceptance of the nomination papers of former provincial minister Mian Aslam Iqbal from PP-171, Lahore.

PETITIONS: A petition has been filed against the acceptance of PTI Punjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid’s nomination papers from NA-130, Lahore.

PML-N leader Bilal Yasin filed the petition, pleading that the respondent was involved in multiple criminal cases.

Similarly, a petition has been filed to restrain Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Jahangir Tareen from contesting election.

The petitioner alleged that he was a business partner of Mr Tareen some 12 years ago. He said the respondent fraudulently deprived him of Rs7.2 million and a litigation over the issue was still pending before a local court. He urged the high court to reject Mr Tareen’s papers from NA-149, Multan.
