KARACHI: A young man was shot dead in front of his wife at Seaview on early Tuesday morning, police said.

The Sahil police said the victim, 25-year-old Mohammed Adnan, was killed by unidentified assailants at Sahil Avenue, Phase-VIII.

South-SSP (Investigation) Dr Farrukh Raza said that as per preliminary probe, the victim along with his wife, had gone to have a meal at a famous eatery at Seaview. After eating, they were sitting at the beach when armed muggers attempted to snatch valuables from them. As Adnan put up resistance, the muggers opened fire on him and fled, the SSP said.

He was taken to a nearby private hospital in Clifton, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the relatives took it away without allowing doctors to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

However, Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed said that he was shot multiple times in the head, face and chest. The SSP said the victim originally hailed from Kalat, where the body was taken for burial.

He said the relatives told the police that they would lodge an FIR later.

He said that initially, it appeared to be a robbery-related murder but police were still investigating the case to ascertain the exact motive. Another police officer said that the victim lived in Naval Colony along with his family and tied the knot around two-three months ago.

Suspect held

A suspect, allegedly involved in the killing of two brothers in Ittehad Town on Monday, was arrested on Tuesday, Keamari police said.

They added that Shafiullah had been arrested along with a 9mm pistol used in the murder of two brothers, Husain and Farooq, after an exchange of heated words over a trivial issue.
