PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: The current emphasis on academic achievement overshadows the importance of physical activities for our children. While academic success is crucial, we must not ignore the benefits of exercise for physical and mental wellbeing. Physical activities contribute not only to physical fitness, but also foster important life skills, such as teamwork and resilience. Educators, parents and policymakers should re-evaluate our educational priorities and ensure a balance between academic excellence and sporting achievement. Let us prioritise the holistic development of our children by incorporating more physical activities into the curriculum, and providing opportunities for sports and recreation to the children.

ELECTION DUTY: The assignment of election duties to women educators deserves to be revisited. While acknowledging the civic responsibility associated with participating in election duties, it is crucial to recognise the diverse challenges and circumstances that women faculty members often encounter. The potential for an unfavourable law and order situation, especially during elections, exacerbates the issue, emphasising the imperative for a secure environment for all individuals engaged in election duties. Navigating these circumstances may be particularly challenging for women faculty members, given their unique roles and responsibilities in this regard.

ELECTION SYMBOL: This is with reference to the editorial ‘Bat and forth’ (Jan 14). There is apparently no end to the ways in which a single political party is being targeted. Party symbols are simply meant to facilitate the voters in casting their votes for the purpose of ease when much of the population is not literate. Denial of symbol to a party is like disenfranchising a large segment of the electorate. It essentially means stopping the party from participating in the electoral process. Sanity must prevail.
