LAHORE: A special court (Central-I) on Thursday adjourned a money laundering case against PTI President Parvez Elahi and his absconding son, Moonis Elahi, also a former federal minister, as the jail officials did not present the former.

A prosecutor of the FIA told the court that a team left from Adiala jail, Rawalpindi, with Mr Elahi for Lahore but could not continue its journey as the motorway was closed due to fog.

Judge Tanvir Ahmad Sheikh adjourned the hearing till Feb 14.

The FIA registered three cases of alleged money laundering against Moonis and his family after he left the country.

His father, Parvez Elahi, is on judicial remand in multiple cases registered against him.

In this case, the proceedings to declare Moonis a proclaimed offender are pending with the court.

The FIA previously told the court that reports regarding the service of summons to Moonis to the extent of his addresses in the United Kingdom and Spain had been received through the ministry of foreign affairs.

An accountability court had already declared Moonis a proclaimed offender in a case of alleged corruption in development projects. The NAB accused him of embezzling billions of rupees in the development projects.
