SWABI: A drug dealer wanted to the police and a cop were injured during an encounter here on Sunday, an official said.

During the last four days it was the second encounter with drug dealers. Earlier, in an exchange of fire, an assistant sub-inspector and a head constable were injured and a drug dealer was killed.

The latest encounter took place in Yar Hussain area of Razaar. SHO Yar Hussain Altaf Khan told Dawn that they had got information about the presence of drug dealer, Taj Ali, in his house.

He said a police team reached the spot immediately. However, he added when the outlaw saw the police party, he opened fire, injuring constable Saifullah Khan. He said the police responded with firing, also injuring him. He said the police arrested the outlaw and recovered a pistol along with several rounds from him.

SHO Altaf said the outlaw was taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, and injured constable was shifted to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital, Shahmansoor.

He said an FIR had been registered against the drug dealer.

Meanwhile, a man was killed in a firing incident in Shewa village on Sunday.

DSP Jawad Khan said the injured was taken to District Headquarters Hospital, where the doctors pronounced him dead. He said identity of the killers and reason behind the firing couldn’t be known.

Meanwhile, thick fog enveloped the whole district on Sunday, crippling the routine of people. The dense fog also caused several accidents, but no casualty was reported.
