SKARDU, Feb 27: The army is providing free medical treatment to people living in remote areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Northern Areas, Siachen Brigade commander Brig Ahmad Nawaz said here on Monday.

He was speaking at a public gathering in Daghoni at the concluding ceremony of a three-day medical camp.

Brig Nawaz praised the peaceful atmosphere in Ghangche district and said such an environment was essential for sustained development. He said the government wanted to further enhance the annual development budget of the Northern Areas.

He called upon the people to promote peace, love, and Islamic brotherhood in the district and cooperate with the district administration for a peaceful environment.

He said that more free medical camps would be organised in the district this year.

The commander also met a delegation of Anjuman-i-Falah-o-Behbood-i-Balghar of the Ghangche district.

He assured them that their problems would be resolved.
