CHAKWAL: A twenty-year-old girl working as a nurse at a private hospital suffered burns when two unknown assailants threw hot liquid on her, police said on Monday.

According to the FIR, the girl was on her way home along with her younger brother on motorcycle after finishing her duty on Sunday. When both sister and brother were passing by Chakwal Grammar School, they were chased by two unknown men who were on a motorbike. “When they reached near us one of them threw hot liquid on me,” the girl stated in the FIR.

After throwing liquid, both the accused ran away.

Police reached the spot and the victim was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital. Later District Police Officer Retired Captain Wahid Mehmood also visited the victim and assured her of immediate arrest of the accused.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bilal Bin Abdul Hafeez and Assistant Commissioner Sameena Bashir also visited the victim at DHQ Hospital and they expressed solidarity and support with her on the behalf of the District Administration.

“The girl suffered burn injuries on the right side of her face, neck and hand but she is in stable condition”, Medical Superintendent Dr Anjum Qadeer told Dawn.

“The girl did not nominate any accused nor she and her father expressed any doubt on any suspect”, a police official said.

The preliminary findings suggest that the substance was not acid rather it was some oil which was boiled,” the official said.
