LAKKI MARWAT: Only a day after banning election-related gatherings and rallies without permission, Lakki Marwat deputy commissioner Rahmat Ali Wazir withdrew his orders in the ‘best public interest’, an official said on Tuesday.

“The restriction was imposed for one month on January 21 (Sunday), but the order issued under Section 144 of CrPC was withdrawn the next day (Monday) in the light of a letter of district police officer,” the official said.

Earlier, the restriction was imposed following a letter the district administration received from the district police officer about the critical law and order situation and threat reports and alerts regarding suicide blasts and targeting of political leaders.

ARRESTED: The police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two persons suspected of being involved in the murder of 11 people, including women and children of a family, in Takhtikhel area of Lakki Marwat district.

An official said on a tip-off a party of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station stopped a passenger bus near Gandi Chowk and arrested two suspects. He identified them as Akhtar Nawaz and Amjad.
