CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has asked Election Commission of Pakistan to make public its polling scheme to ensure transparency in the forthcoming polls.

Addressing a gathering in Sherpao village here on Wednesday, he said that ECP should have announced by now the polling scheme containing constituency-wise lists of polling stations, number of registered voters and other relevant details.

Lauding Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa for his efforts to correct the wrongs committed in the previous PTI government, Mr Sherpao said that former deputy speaker of National Assembly enjoyed perks and privileges for five years on the basis of a stay order and created a constitutional crises in the end. “This was travesty of justice and the one responsible for it should be made to face the music,” he added.

He also expressed concerns over inflated bills of gas and electricity and said that government should keep in mind problems of people, who were already facing record inflation. He said that steps should be taken to redress the grievances of people. He said that QWP would spare no effort to provide relief to people if the party was voted to power.

Shedding light on the election manifesto of his party, Mr Sherpao said that reforms would be introduced in all the sectors including health, education and agriculture. He said that concerted efforts were needed to put the country on path to progress.

Addressing an election rally in Shabqadar the other day, the QWP chairman said that the country was facing serious crises including political instability, deteriorating law and order and rising inflation for which the upcoming general elections would be the only solution.

He said that the next government would have to work hard to steer the country out of the crises. He said that political stability was linked to economic stability.

He said that people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were facing loadshedding of gas and electricity despite the fact that the province was producing electricity and gas in excess of its requirement.

Mr Sherpao hoped that voters would consider the past performance of candidates before exercising their right to vote.

QWP candidate for PK-66 Ilyas Jan Khan and local office-bearers of the party also addressed the gathering.
