LAKKI MARWAT: Three militants were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Titterkhel town of Lakki Marwat district on Saturday.

An official said that the operation was jointly launched by local police and counter-terrorism department commandos after receiving information about the presence of militants in the rural locality.

He said that the law enforcers backed by armoured personnel carrier (APC) vehicles reached the area to besiege the hideout of militants. “The district police officer, Tariq Habib, led the operation,” he added.

The official said that the law enforcers came under intense fire when they reached the hideout of militants that triggered a gun battle. He said that assailants used light and heavy weapons to breach the siege of police but their bid was foiled by cops.

“During intense exchange of fire, three militants were eliminated and a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them,” he said. He added that policemen remained unhurt in the gunfight, which continued for some time.
