DERA GHAZI KHAN: PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has pledged district status for Jampur, besides information technology universities in Jampur and Rajanpur if his party comes into power after Feb 8 election.

Addressing an election rally in Rajanpur on Monday, he said when people were drowning in the flood in the river Indus, he was standing with them as their “servant”.

He reminded the people that during the last PML-N tenure, there was an abundance of medicines in the local hospitals.

Shehbaz also promised to initiate laptop scheme for the students of the trans-Indus districts of Punjab.

Meanwhile, the party candidate for National Assembly constituency NA-188, Dr Hafeezur Rehman Khan Dreshak, in his speech pointed out absence of Sui gas in Rajanpur district, pledging the party would provide the necessary public utility to the area people, besides a children’s hospital and a university.

PML-N provincial secretary general and former federal minister Awais Leghari presented the traditional Balochi cap to Shehbaz.

All party candidates from six provincial and three National Assmebly seats in Rajanpur district, including Sher Afgan, Sher Ali Gorchani, Parwaiz Gorchani, Riyaz Mazari, Dost Muhammed Mazari and others were present.

ARRESTED: Police arrested the PTI nominee (independent candidate) from PP-288, Malik Iqbal Saqib advocate, here on Monday.

Police says Mr Saqib and PTI’s former federal minister Ms Zartaj Gull private secretary Mehmood Bhatti were arrested at Kalma Chowk in DG Khan city for alleged violation of section 144.

Saqib was also running the election campaign for Ms Gull in NA-185 in her absence.
